you know what to do with this, fandom
I actually don’t. I mean, I get that it’s bingo. But where/who exactly are these comments coming from? Also, why does it matter what a fictitious character who is never described as more than wearing a tie looks like in the mind of a listener? Who cares if someone imagines Cecil as light or dark or even purple? His race is never disclosed. From the Night Vale wiki:
It’s likely that he is, like the majority of Night Vale residents, human, describing himself as such in passing several times. He is also described by both himself and by Kevin as “a man” and has not, of yet, been mentioned as having anything other than the usual human features. He is also described from a photograph as being: “Not short or tall, fat or thin. With hair [resembling Kevin’s], a nose [resembling Kevin’s] and eyes [resembling Kevin’s]”. He also wears a tie, at least in the photograph of him.
Carlos, Tamika, and several other characters are specifically described as being darker in appearance. Cecil is not. I’ve heard each episode at least 2 dozen times, most of them more than this as I often listen to the show to relax at night. So even without the wiki confirmation, I can recall what little descriptive information of Cecil is ever given, and I really don’t get why someone would be actively pissed off about someone else mentally perceiving Cecil as caucasian. Personally, I just picture him as a slight modification of his voice actor, Cecil Baldwin. But then, I also don’t get why seemingly everyone draws or cosplays Cecil with a literal third eye, so maybe I missed some mandatory lecture or something.
tl;dr Cecil is never described enough to determine a race, so calm your tits and just enjoy the fucking show with however you personally imagine Cecil Gershwin Palmer to look.
For some reason, I never thought I would see sheep in a cemetery. But here we are.
