Ghost

Your dead kids don’t trump my Constitutional rights.

When I Google News search the phrase “religious persecution,” the entire first page is full of stories with the phrase “Christian persecution.” And one story about a guy who apparently believes in a Star Wars religion. Nothing on the first page about Jews being persecuted or executed. Nothing about Muslims being harassed or attacked. Christian persecution and Star Wars. I had more faith in you, Google.

The eternal argument

  • Mom: Billy, please clean up your room.
  • Little Billy: NO!
  • Mom: But Billy, every time one of your friends plays in your room, he trips on your shoes or sits on your toys. Do you want more people to get hurt?
  • Little Billy: That's not the toys' fault, Mom! My friends just get hurt lots because they're not used to having toys around. You should tell their moms to buy them more toys!
  • Mom: Now you know that doesn't make any sense. It's because your room needs to be clean and organized, Billy. Otherwise you can get bugs or boo boos. Clean it up now.
  • Little Billy: What's the point? It's just going to get messy again!
  • Mom: How do I make you understand that it's for your own good?! Go clean it now!
  • ---Okay, now let's look at this same argument elsewhere:
  • Democrats: America, it's time to get guns off the streets.
  • Republicans: NO!
  • Democrats: But Republicans, guns have brought us nothing but tragedy in the hands of civilians. Too many of our friends, our family, our constituents, and even our colleagues have been injured or worse because of our lax gun regulations. Do you want more people to get hurt?
  • Republicans: That's not the guns' fault! If more people had guns, they could fight back the other people who have guns because they'd know how to use them better!
  • Democrats: Now you know that doesn't make any sense. It's because guns serve no purpose to other than to harm, and there's no reason for a civilian in modern times to own one considering that the 2nd Amendment was only applicable prior to us having a national military. Even if there was legal and logical rationale for a civilian to posses a firearm, it is too easy for accidental misfires or lunatic-driven intentional shootings to happen. We need to clean up our gun policies now.
  • Republicans: What's the point? If we ban guns, people are just going to get them illegally!
  • Democrats: How do I make you understand that it's for your own good?! Go fix it now!

And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;
O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave,
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Why are people so shocked and appalled when the United States tries to play World Police? In this country’s 237 years of official existence, over 200 years have been spent in some sort of war. We have an acceptance of violence not replicated in any other first world nation. For goodness sake, our national anthem is an homage to war.

Now if Canada started bombing people in the name of freedom, that would be news.

Recall:

  • Since 1979, the income of the top 1% has increased by 275% even after taxes and income transfers.
  • Half of all workers in the United States make less than $26,364 a year.

Gee, I wonder why there are all these Occupy Wall Street protests. What could they possibly want?

Waiting for Fox News to say “Obama eats white babies.” Otherwise, this pic is absolutely adorable.

I think all politicians should be paid minimum wage. That way the only people who go out for the jobs are those who really just want to do it for the good of the people.

I dare you to make it 2 pages into this blog before feeling sick to your stomach that people like this exist. Gtfo of my religion, lady. You do NOT demonstrate any evidence of being raised with the teachings of Judaism.

Hey Kids! Measles are Marvelous!
At least that’s what a new anti-vaccination children’s book would have you believe. Outright lying wasn’t enough for the anti-vaccination movement. Deceiving parents just wouldn’t do it. Now they are aiming square at the kids.
From the book’s description:

This book takes children aged 4 – 10 years on a journey of discovering about the ineffectiveness of vaccinations, while teaching them to embrace childhood disease, heal if they get a disease, and build their immune systems naturally.

“… build their immune systems naturally”? Do you know WHY we developed vaccines for measles? Because measles is not marvelous (just look at the symptoms).
Just like this book, it can be deadly.
Cant’ make this stuff up. Head -> desk.

really?!

anti-vaccination crusaders make me mad on so many levels.

Wow.

…

“FDR didn’t get a vaccination for Polio and he turned out alright”

Dear fucking god.

This might be the dumbest damned thing I’ve ever seen in my life.

Wow, so this is a real thing that exists. This is what happens when you let religious and political leaders tell people that science stuff is “only a theory” and all that bullshit. I’m pretty sure America and Australia are the only countries full of smug parents shunning vaccinations.
